การรณรงค์ดังกล่าว เป็นส่วนหนึ่งในความพยายามของท่านเจ้าอาวาสธัมมชโย จากประเทศไทย ในการสร้างสันติภาพโลก ขณะที่ท่านเจ้าอาวาสธัมมชโย พูดถึงความปรารถนาที่จะเห็นสันติภาพแก่มวลมนุษย์ทุกคน โคม (ที่ทำจาก) กระดาษและไม้ไผ่ กว่า 1,000ดวง ก็ถูกส่งต่อๆกันไปให้แก่ผู้ที่มาร่วมงาน และตรงกลางก็ถูกจุดให้สว่าง

ส่วนโครงงาน Peace for Africa ที่พวกเราจะร่วมกัน นั่งสมาธิ จุดประทีป และลอยโคมสันติภาพนั้น ทีมงานได้กำหนดแน่นอนแล้วว่า เป็น วันอาทิตย์ที่ 19 ตุลาคม พ.ศ.2551 โดยจะมีประชาชนทุกสีผิวจากทุกศาสนาและความเชื่อ มานั่งสมาธิร่วมกัน แผ่ขยาย Peace จากภายในออกไปสู่เพื่อนมนุษย์ทุกๆคน
